President Donald Trump is once again picking up his budget ax, and this time, the Department of Education is in the crosshairs. Finally, we have a leader who’s not afraid to take on the bloated bureaucracy that has failed our nation’s students for years. The schoolyard rhyme of “40 whacks” is apt—it’s time to cut the fat and get serious about education reform.
Last week, the Trump administration proudly approved a massive rescissions package. A whopping $9.4 billion was slashed from unnecessary foreign aid and handouts to liberal media outlets like PBS and NPR. It’s about time taxpayer dollars stayed at home rather than funding the leftist agenda abroad. Now, with the spotlight on the Education Department, change is afoot, and it’s causing quite the liberal meltdown.
Secretary Linda McMahon has already rolled up her sleeves, axing 1,300 staffers and ending federal handouts for divisive Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs. Trump’s goal is to trim the department down to its essentials. The administration knows the American education system needs rebuilding, not more bureaucratic bloat.

Despite these bold moves, Democrats in Congress are already scheming to stop the cuts. They cry foul whenever their pet projects are threatened. Let’s be honest—their resistance is more about protecting their political interests than truly educating our children. When did education become about maintaining political power over genuine student development?
The upcoming rescissions package might target other areas beyond education, but the Department of Education is where the real battle lies. This is a fight worth having. Bold leadership requires tough decisions, and President Trump is proving that he isn’t afraid to make them. Will the Democrats step up to the plate and work for true educational reform, or will they cling to the status quo that has failed us for decades?
