In a bold and decisive move, President Donald Trump has once again demonstrated his commitment to reshaping a bloated and inefficient federal bureaucracy. Two Democratic board members were given their walking papers from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a watchdog agency that’s supposed to be independent but has been under the thumb of the left for far too long. With this action, Trump is ensuring that only those aligned with his America First agenda are left standing.
Todd Harper and Tanya Otsuka, who were both cozy with the Democratic establishment, were shown the door. Harper is howling about being fired before his term expired, while Otsuka is lamenting the supposed demise of democratic values. But aren’t we tired of hearing about “bipartisanship” which often just means the right getting rolled over? Harper was given an opportunity by Trump himself in 2019 but quickly turned his loyalties when President Biden elevated him to chairman in 2021. Apparently, true alignment with Trump’s vision has more sustainability than a flimsy Senate confirmation.
The liberal narrative claims Trump’s action undermines the “balance” of the NCUA and that consumer harm will follow. Balance, in their dictionary, means two Democrats to one Republican. Sorry, Democrats, but this is a time for real leadership—not manufactured balance for appearance’s sake. Trump knows that the federal government is clogged with partisan leftovers who would rather undermine the president than stand up for the American people.

Critics babble about Trump’s supposed authoritarian hold over so-called independent agencies. The reality is these agencies have become political playgrounds for Democrats. Trump is simply cleaning house and reasserting rightful executive power. When you work at the pleasure of the president in the executive branch, employment is a privilege, not a right.
The left can whine all they want, but Trump is doing what he promised. He’s putting America first and draining the swamp, one unnecessary board member at a time. If Democrats are so concerned about these oversight boards, they should remember the conservative parade of firings they cheered under previous administrations. Is America supposed to wait around for entrenched bureaucrats to warm up to a vision they never supported?
What the liberals see as chaos, Trump sees as groundbreaking reform. Let’s face it: It’s Trump who’s actually daring to challenge the status quo. Isn’t it about time someone put America ahead of bureaucratic comfort zones?
