President Trump is once again heading to Europe, where he plans to shake up NATO like a pit bull in a room full of poodles. This time, the message is clear and unyielding—either these European freeloaders dig deeper into their pockets for defense spending, or they’ll have to answer for their lack of commitment. With Trump at the helm, it’s time for NATO members to show a bit of grit and pony up 5 percent of their budgets, not just the pathetic 2 percent they’ve been skating by with.
For too long, the American taxpayer has shouldered Europe’s safety blanket while these countries shirk their obligations. Trump’s firm stance at the NATO Summit in The Hague calls out the chronic under-funding by alliance members who cling to American contributions like barnacles clinging to a ship’s hull. It’s a no-brainer that, in an age where threats from terrorism, unchecked immigration, and a volatile Russia loom large, simply meeting bare minimum requirements isn’t cutting it.
Let’s not kid ourselves. Trump knows the game. He’s seen through the globalist curtain and won’t stand for it. These NATO nations have been quite proficient at making a mockery of defense contributions while reaping the benefits of American-backed military support. It’s high time these nations pay their dues. And if Trump needs to deliver that message with the force of a hurricane, so be it.

While the left continues to be dazzled by the allure of weak-kneed diplomacy and European tea parties, Trump is busy doing the heavy lifting. He’s not about to let Europe’s chronic under-spenders bask in America’s defensive glory without coughing up their share. This demand for increased spending will ensure readiness and modernization in the face of mounting global threats.
There’s no sugar-coating the truth. Trump is shaking out the change from NATO’s pockets and making sure America isn’t the only one paying for the world’s safety net. Demand stronger contributions and watch as hypocritical globalists squirm under the pressure. Will any world leader have the backbone to follow Trump’s lead? If they’re truly committed to a strong and secure future, they might want to start paying attention.
