The ongoing saga surrounding the immigration enforcement operations under President Trump is a reminder that some politicians live in a fantasy world, blissfully ignorant of the facts. With more than 7,000 arrests made by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) since the rollout of Trump’s deportation raids, it’s clear that this administration is serious about addressing the crisis at the border. While some critics may lament this decisive action, they conveniently ignore the unsavory facts about many illegal immigrants in the U.S.
Let’s do a little reality check here. The individuals being targeted by ICE aren’t just falsely accused victims of circumstance. Many of them are dangerous criminals—rapists, murderers, and drug dealers who have no right being in this country in the first place. So, while leftists wring their hands at the audacity of the Trump administration taking a stand against these criminals, conservatives see it as a long-overdue effort to restore law and order.
A common phrase one might hear from the open-border crowd is that all illegal immigrants contribute positively to society. While one could find a few cases of hardworking individuals who are simply looking for a better life, the reality is far less rosy. The term “economic terrorist” is not too far-fetched when considering that illegal immigration can lead to job loss and wage suppression for American citizens. It is a slap in the face to hardworking Americans who play by the rules while others exploit the system.

As the number of arrests continues to climb, pro-immigration activists are growing more desperate in their attempts to vilify ICE. It’s almost comical how they talk about “family unification” without recognizing that, for many criminals, the “family” just happens to include associates with extensive rap sheets. This isn’t about tearing loving families apart; it’s about protecting American families from individuals who have shown a blatant disregard for the law.
In the final analysis, the left needs to get real about the implications of illegal immigration and the true nature of many individuals who cross the border in violation of U.S. law. The Trump administration’s tactics may ruffle a few feathers in liberal circles, but they are squarely rooted in the necessity of enforcing laws designed to keep Americans safe. So while the opponents of these ICE raids fume, the rest of America watches as justice finally takes the wheel.
