Two Inmates Recaptured Two Still at Large after Tangipahoa Jail Break

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies caught two escapees who broke out of a local jail, but two others are still on the run, the department reported. The inmates made their getaway in late May by slipping through a part of the fence during recreation time. Two of them, named Travon Johnson and Jamarcus Guidry, were discovered hiding in a dumpster behind a Dollar General store.

The missing inmates are Omarion Hoofkin and Avery Guidry, both 19 years old. They managed to escape by crawling under a gap in the wall and scaling two fences. The inspection found that a section of the fence could be manipulated to allow a smaller person to slide through.

Johnson and Guidry were previously arrested for the alleged murder of a man and the shooting of his 12-year-old daughter in Tangipahoa Parish. The horrific incident involved a break-in where the father and daughter were shot. Despite being shot multiple times, the young girl survived.

The article mentions that Cyprian was in jail for armed robbery and weapons offenses, while Hoofkin faced charges for aggravated battery while incarcerated in Catahoula Parish. These individuals’ criminal histories are a stark reminder of the importance of law enforcement and the justice system in keeping our communities safe.

Editorial opinion: This news story underscores the need for stricter law enforcement measures to prevent dangerous criminals from escaping and harming innocent individuals. The fact that these inmates were involved in such heinous crimes only adds to the urgency of ensuring secure facilities and strong oversight. It is crucial to prioritize public safety and support our law enforcement officers in their efforts to apprehend those who pose a threat to society.
