It's not surprising that House Republicans launched an investigation into former US President Joe Biden. Also, just like with Donald Trump's impeachment, Ukraine is once again in the spotlight.
According to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, the investigation was prompted by allegations that the Biden family received over $20 million in foreign payments. In addition, he noted that there was also a sketch of communications between the former vice president and his son, Hunter, regarding their business dealings. It’s a scandal that’s like a buffet.
The impeachment inquiry against President Biden centers on his involvement with #Ukraine, just as the Eastern European country figured prominently in the first impeachment of President Trump.
In fact, both impeachments touch upon the same incident. https://t.co/T3hJJ8SrIf

In 2016, Biden used a loan guarantee from the US government to try and get Ukraine's prosecutor, Victor Shokin, fired. According to reports, Shokin was investigating a Ukrainian energy company called Burisma. Hunter Biden, the former vice president's son, was on the company's board and reportedly made a cool $1 million annually.
In 2019, Donald Trump asked the Ukrainian president for help in investigating the matter. This prompted House Democrats to launch an impeachment investigation against Trump. Now, Republicans are saying that if Trump was being investigated fairly, then why shouldn't Biden be investigated as well?
The controversy surrounding Biden and Ukraine has been a tangled web of allegations. Democrats have accused Trump of abusing his power, while Republicans are now examining evidence that contradicts the former vice president's claims of innocence.
It's not clear who will win in the latest round of impeachment hearings. But one thing is certain: Ukraine has once again become the center of the political universe.
