UN Admits Aid to Gaza is Stolen but Blames Israel for Insecurity

The United Nations has finally acknowledged what most sensible people have known for quite some time: aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip are getting looted. This admission comes after a recent incident where a convoy of 109 trucks, brimming with food supplies for Gazans, was violently raided. A whopping 97 of those trucks were hijacked in broad daylight, with drivers forced to empty their cargo at gunpoint. It’s a scene reminiscent of a bad heist movie, where the only thing missing is the dramatic music. What remains unclear is which armed bandits are responsible for this thievery, a mystery that doesn’t need Sherlock Holmes to solve.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to connect the dots: the prime suspect for these audacious heists is none other than Hamas, the Iranian-backed militia that has a hefty hand in most things bad in Gaza. While the UN scrambles to pin the blame on the elusive “armed people,” the reality is clearer than the skies over Gaza after a storm: Hamas is stealing humanitarian aid intended for ordinary Palestinians and then extorting them for it in return. As if that weren’t enough, this so-called “terror group” is also eliminating any civilians daring enough to try to access their own aid. Apparently, the only thing more popular than humanitarian help in Gaza is storing it in overflowing warehouses while the needy are left empty-handed.

Intercepted communications among Hamas operatives recently revealed the sheer size of their looted bounty. These terrorists are chatting away about their overstuffed warehouses, murmuring about moving excess supplies to Khan Yunis. It’s a logistical operation that rivals those of large corporations. Who knew terrorism could also involve some serious inventory management? One can only imagine the backroom dealings and haggling that must occur as they redistribute these stolen goods.

The irony is as thick as the bureaucracy at the UN. While they demand Israel secure these aid deliveries, they simultaneously refuse to allow the Jewish state to protect those supplies with armed security. So, they expect Israel to prevent future theft while tying its hands behind its back. The UN’s logic seems to suggest that the best defense against armed thieves is a polite request for them to please not steal. If only the UN could take a page from a security handbook instead of its usual playbook of wishful thinking.

As this comedy of errors unfolds, the UN keeps blaming Israel for not getting aid to Gazans, all while ignoring the obvious culprits. The situation echoes a classic case of blaming the victim, casting Israel as the bad guy in a narrative constructed out of flimsy excuses and flawed reasoning. In the delicate balancing act of international politics, it seems the UN has mastered the art of denying reality. Maybe they should put together a new training seminar titled “How to Lose Aid Deliveries and Blame Your Enemy at the Same Time.”
