The funny folks who usually roast the President at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner took a different route this year. SNL’s Colin Jost hosted and decided to shower President Joe Biden with compliments instead of jokes. No, the target of his roast was former President Donald Trump instead.

During his speech, Jost sprinkled in a few light jabs at President Biden but mainly focused on ripping into Trump. The audience of journalists chuckled a bit but really perked up when Jost praised Biden as a “decent” man. He even shared a tale about his grandpa voting for Biden because of his apparent decency.
But hold up, is Joe Biden the poster child for “decency”? Some say not quite. Critics point to incidents like Biden helping his brother avoid punishment for a deadly hit-and-run, making divisive comments about Republicans and Black Americans, and spreading misinformation about Trump.
And let’s not forget about the time Biden collaborated with segregationists to keep schools segregated. Plus, his shady dealings with the FBI and controversial statements over the years don’t exactly scream “decency” to everyone.
While Colin Jost may have fawned over Biden at the Correspondents’ Dinner, some are shaking their heads at the idea of Biden being the epitome of decency. But hey, in the world of politics, what’s a little tongue bath between friends, right?
