The left loves to scream about tyranny and royal rule, but seems to conveniently forget their past infatuation with crown-ready leaders. Last weekend, the usual crowd of liberal voices protested against former President Trump, spewing a confused narrative chanting “No Kings” as if Trump was some tyrant on a golden throne. Anyone who watched these pointless gatherings knows it was mostly older liberals, probably reminiscing on their Obama-era fantasies where they almost crowned their messiah.
These anti-Trump crusaders huff and puff for democracy with hypocrisy smeared across their faces. These are the same folks who wanted to see Barack Obama anointed as a political deity when he was in power. The short-lived memory or plain ignorance of these protesters would be amusing if it weren’t so alarming. For a crowd so afraid of kings, they certainly have royal amnesia when it comes to Obama’s reign, especially his actions that skirted constitutional boundaries.
Obama himself admitted as much just this past weekend. He was practically gulping down the royal Kool-Aid during his presidency. Just take a look at the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which he tossed into the American landscape without proper legislative approval. Isn’t it audacious—Obama fans renounce fictional tyranny yet celebrate unconstitutional decision-making?
#NoKings
"Last weekend, there were nationwide anti-Trump protests from liberals, dubbed ‘No Kings.’ I won’t go into this too much, but the average age at most of these sad gatherings had to be 78. It was mostly crusty, unhinged boomers."https://t.co/id4BzVroNv— Darren Brady Nelson (@DarrenBNelson) June 18, 2025
The left wants to portray themselves as guardians of the law. Yet, they applaud Obama’s bypassing of the legislative branch, pushing through executive actions that jeopardized the American rulebook. Behind their “No Kings” shouts lies an illogical acceptance, even endorsement, of practices that contradict their so-called democratic values. They’re more than willing to trade freedom for convenience when it suits them.
It’s time to call this out for what it is—a classic case of liberal delusion, wrapped in old-age nostalgia. For a group so opposed to unearned power, crowning Obama as their king without a crown smacks of hypocrisy. Perhaps it’s time they ponder this: isn’t demanding a king-like figure in disguise the actual threat to democracy? Now that’s a royal irony, isn’t it?
