The tables have turned, and it’s time to take a good look at what this means for the left. Legendary filmmaker Woody Allen, a staunch Democrat, recently had some unexpected praise for former President Donald Trump. It’s rare to see a staunch liberal like Allen, who has always walked in the left’s shadow, acknowledging the talents of a man the progressive crowd loves to hate. Yet here he is, admitting that Trump was a superb actor, cooperative on set, and naturally gifted in show business.
Even Bill Maher, another liberal figure, found himself agreeing with these sentiments despite being the host of the conversation. Maher knows what it’s like pushing back against the rigid attitudes of his own party. His willingness to even consider a bridge to the other side is eye-opening and says everything about the intolerant tendencies of the modern-day left. They are so busy demonizing the right that they fail to acknowledge any positive traits coming from conservatives.

What’s laughable is the left’s hypocrisy. While they claim to promote openness and understanding, they shut down the mere idea of bipartisan interaction. Has anyone heard a single word from those who preach “tolerance” yet refuse to break bread with anyone who isn’t toeing their line? Maher pointed out the idiocy of this attitude when he was criticized for dining with Trump in March.
Democrats like Allen who dare speak a kind word about Trump face cancellation threats from their own ideological peers. It’s a sad day when praising someone for their talents, even if they are on the opposing political team, becomes an act of bravery. The left’s mob mentality is alive and well, targeting anyone daring to stray from the herd.
Trump’s charisma is undeniable. That much even his harshest critics are forced to begrudgingly admit. Why wouldn’t he venture from entertainment to politics, where charisma can rule? If the left could pause their angry mob routine, maybe they’d see that America needs more interactions that break the left-right deadlock. Until then, they remain stuck in their echo chambers, seething blindly as figures like Maher and Allen shine through a hint of common sense. Could it be that this closed-mindedness is what keeps the left failing?
