Biden Administration Dodges Accountability on Trump Assassination Attempt Blames Local Police

As the Biden administration scrambles to cover its tracks, it has hastily declared “100 percent confidence” in the Secret Service well before any “independent review” can shine a light on the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. This pre-emptive declaration aims to deflect from the glaring incompetence surrounding the near-fatal breach. Meanwhile, the Fraternal Order of Police is not taking this lightly and is challenging USSS Director Kimberly Cheatle’s laughable attempts to pin the blame on state and local authorities.

Kimberly Cheatle, refusing to step down or take any real accountability, must have taken a master class at Biden’s School of Shamelessness. Cheatle claimed in an interview that the Secret Service was only responsible for the inner perimeter, leaving the outer perimeter to local counterparts. It’s as if she believes that stepping out of the central circle absolves her of any responsibility while bullets rained down on Trump and his supporters from a building local police were supposedly guarding.

The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) isn’t having any of it. FOP National President Patrick Yoes has issued a stark reminder to Cheatle—and by extension, the Biden administration—that the Secret Service’s principal duty is the protection of significant public figures, like former President Trump. Yoes pointed out that the mission is a collaborative effort involving state and local officers, who despite not having specialized training, are more than capable of assisting at large events.

Yoes eloquently dismantled Cheatle’s deflection tactics by reminding the public of the interconnected roles federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies play in ensuring security. Yoes emphasized that if the Secret Service shirks its accountability, it undermines the entire law enforcement network. Biden-picked officials tossing their invaluable state and local partners under the bus is a surefire way to wreck operational cohesiveness just as the 2024 election campaigns kick into high gear.

As the so-called “independent review” and congressional oversight trudges along, this case isn’t going away. Yoes warned about the extraordinary challenges the Secret Service faces in the upcoming campaign season. The Secret Service’s ability to rely on state and local law enforcement—already battered by the defund-the-police lunacy—remains uncertain. Statements from anonymous officials casting doubt on this partnership could make a challenging task nearly impossible.

If Biden’s Secret Service top dogs continue to dodge responsibility while pointing fingers at state and local enforcement, they will further erode the morale and trust necessary for effective security cooperation. Instead of addressing a catastrophic lapse in duty, this administration’s leadership seeks to shift blame and avoid any real consequences, leaving law enforcement agencies hesitant to work together on crucial security missions. This isn’t just a leadership failure—it’s a public safety crisis waiting to happen.
