An Afghan national has recently been arrested for allegedly planning an Election Day attack, and it raises alarming questions about the Biden Administration’s vetting practices. Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, a newcomer to the United States, arrived just weeks after the chaos ensued in Afghanistan when the Taliban took over. His arrival should have been met with caution, but instead, it seems he slipped through the cracks of a shoddy vetting process that officials insist was sufficient.
Tawhedi didn’t just come to America to enjoy a slice of apple pie. The 27-year-old reportedly communicated his intentions of carrying out a mass casualty attack on symbolic soft targets. This raises eyebrows about how many more individuals with similar ideologies have made their way into the country. It’s a classic case of prioritizing martyrdom over family values.
The investigation into Tawhedi wasn’t a mere tip-off; the FBI had to dig deep to connect the dots leading to his arrest. His troubling behavior included reading ISIS propaganda to his children, which, one might infer, isn’t a bedtime story meant to inspire curiosity about the wonders of American freedom. Instead, it showcases a commitment to an ideology that has no place in a country built on liberty and justice.
The alarming trends surrounding this case don’t just end with Tawhedi. Since President Biden took the reins, a staggering number of individuals from the terrorist watchlist have been apprehended trying to cross the U.S.-Mexico border, far exceeding numbers seen during the previous administration.
