The incompetence of the Biden-Harris Administration continues to play out in horrifying fashion, as evidenced by the case of Daniel Hernandez-Martinez, an illegal immigrant allegedly connected to the Tren de Aragua gang. This 30-year-old criminal managed to slip through the fingers of various law enforcement agencies in New York City, committing an astounding 22 crimes over a mere six months. How can such a staggering failure happen in a supposedly law-abiding society?
Hernandez-Martinez’s crime spree is not just an isolated incident but a glaring example of the systemic issues inherent in the current immigration policies. Despite being apprehended by Border Patrol in Texas and initially sent back to Mexico under the now-reviled Title 42 policy, Hernandez-Martinez somehow managed to worm his way back into the U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE) policies don’t seem to be doing the job they’re supposed to, especially when they allow a man accused of multiple offenses to roam free. This glaring oversight raises serious questions about the enforcement of federal immigration laws that have been seemingly sidelined since the Biden Administration took office.

It’s no surprise that Vice President Kamala Harris is being called out for her unwavering support of lenient asylum policies and mass amnesty tactics. Her influence, combined with Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas’s directives, appears to undermine any semblance of order at the border. A memo issued by Mayorkas in September 2021 was particularly eye-catching, as it restricts ICE officers’ ability to detain and deport criminal aliens. Incidentally, this memo falls squarely in line with the House Republicans’ accusations that Mayorkas has blatantly disregarded federal immigration law.
To add insult to injury, the Biden-Harris Administration is reportedly responsible for releasing over 5.4 million illegal immigrants into the country, while another 1.9 million managed to sneak past law enforcement altogether. This chaotic situation at the southern border, which many attribute to the radical policies of the current administration, has created an environment of increasing crime and insecurity within the U.S. Hernandez-Martinez’s runaway spree is just one of many products of this reckless permissiveness.
A brief stint at Rikers Island ended with a deportation order for Hernandez-Martinez, but it seems that the Venezuelan government has other plans. With the country halting deportation flights, it appears that he will stick around in the U.S. indefinitely. This outcome not only raises eyebrows but underscores a significant flaw in the immigration system that leaves American citizens vulnerable to the very criminals who should not be here in the first place. The inability of the Biden-Harris Administration to manage border control and uphold immigration laws paints a bleak picture for the everyday American trying to live a safe and secure life.
