Thursday marked the two-year anniversary of the unauthorized leak of the Dobbs v. Jackson decision, a move which eventually led to the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Despite ongoing investigations, the individual responsible for the leak remains unidentified. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris used the anniversary to emphasize their focus on the consequences of the Dobbs decision rather than addressing the concerning nature of the leak itself.
President Biden’s social media account was particularly active on Thursday, posting multiple times about abortion and focusing on criticizing former President Donald Trump. While the president did speak out against pro-Hamas protests, his primary focus was on reposting content related to abortion from Vice President Harris.

Harris centered her posts around fearmongering and misrepresenting Trump’s stance on states’ rights regarding abortion laws. She also highlighted her support for the Women’s Health Protection Act, a piece of legislation that would not only uphold Roe v. Wade but also expand abortion access nationwide. Despite previous failure to pass the act during a Democratic-controlled Congress, Biden and other Democrats have expressed a willingness to eliminate the filibuster in order to push it through.
The Biden administration’s incessant focus on abortion comes as Republicans in Florida have enacted a heartbeat bill, drawing attention to the issue in the state. Both Biden and Harris have ramped up their posts about abortion in an effort to sway public opinion, particularly as Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis gains momentum.
Despite the administration’s relentless emphasis on the abortion issue, their posts fail to acknowledge the broader implications of the Dobbs leak. Conservative Supreme Court justices and their families faced threats and illegal protests following the decision, which the administration has downplayed. Furthermore, individuals connected to pro-life organizations and Catholic Churches have been targeted, yet the administration continues to deflect from these concerning actions.
