President Biden, the Democratic man in charge of the country, made a bold statement, saying he “can’t think of one” reason why presidents should have absolute immunity from prosecution. This comes as former President Donald Trump is seeking immunity from prosecution, but Mr. Biden is not having it! He made this comment to reporters on his way to Camp David for Christmas. This sure sparks some drama in the political world!

The Supreme Court shut down a plea from special counsel Jack Smith to speedily decide on Mr. Trump’s immunity case, leaving it to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. The court will tackle this hot topic on January 9. The drama just never ends in the world of politics!
Mr. Trump, not one to hold back, took to Truth Social to bash Mr. Smith’s attempt to rush the decision. He argued that he is entitled to presidential immunity because he was the president and it was his duty to speak out about the 2020 election. It’s like one of those intense reality TV shows, but with lots of lawyers and legal jargon.
Even U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan pushed back on Mr. Trump’s immunity claim earlier this month. Looks like Mr. Trump just can’t catch a break with all these rejections!
Former U.S. attorney Preet Bharara warned that the appeals process could drag on for quite some time. He didn’t hold back on his thoughts, saying that “weeks can turn to months pretty quickly” in the legal process. Sounds like this could be a long, drawn-out battle!
