Biden Skips New Hampshire Primary: Hiding or Running Scared?

It's been a surprise that Vice President Biden has decided not to run for office in the New Hampshire election. The state's Democrats were told about this choice by his reelection campaign, who used the Delegate Selection Rules for the 2024 Democratic National Convention as an excuse. The Rules & Bylaws Committee of the Democratic National Committee told campaigns not to put candidates' names on the ballot, and Biden's campaign has decided to follow that advice.

The Democratic National Committee changed the order of the primaries, giving South Carolina the highly sought-after first slot. From now on, Nevada and New Hampshire will hold their primaries second, then Georgia and then Michigan. It's interesting that Iowa has been taken off the list of states that can vote early. It looks like the Democrats are changing things up for the next race.

Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Biden's campaign manager, said that Biden is excited to be on the general election ballot in New Hampshire as the Democratic Party nominee after the 2024 Democratic National Convention, where he will officially be named the candidate. He promised her that he would work hard to get every vote in the Granite State next November. But Raymond Buckley, who is the chair of the state Democratic Party, thinks that Biden will almost certainly be re-elected, even though he wasn't on the primary ticket.

This might seem like an odd choice for Biden not to be on the New Hampshire primary vote, but there could be a strategic reason for it. Could it be that the campaign wants to focus on other states or that they are sure Biden will win no matter what? Time will tell. But one thing is for sure: the 2024 election season is going to be exciting, and Biden's choice is just the start.
