Joe Biden delivered an Oval Office address following the assassination attempt on Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. It was predictably a trainwreck, highlighted by the usual slurred speech and missing words that have become Biden’s hallmark on both the campaign trail and in formal settings. The president demonstrated a staggering lack of self-awareness, making it clear that taking responsibility for ramping up political rhetoric was beyond him. It’s unforgivable, yet, of course, the media will always provide a crutch, ready to prop him up and then conveniently kick it out from under him when it serves their narrative.
In an effort that only could be described as laughable, NBC News decided to play cleanup crew, editing what Biden supposedly meant to convey. The liberal-leaning network conveniently transformed Biden’s repeated references to the “battle box” into a more palatable call for deciding matters at the “ballot box,” clearly trying to avoid inflaming the situation further.
Anyone paying attention knows this isn’t NBC’s first rodeo when it comes to creative editing. Remember the fiasco with George Zimmerman’s 911 call during the Trayvon Martin incident? NBC’s shenanigans were exposed then, too, as they edited the call to stoke racial tensions. But it’s part of their playbook—sanitize the news, obfuscate the facts, and mislead the public. This latest escapade is just another entry in a long list of media misdeeds.

Setting aside the media’s attempt to clean up his mess, Biden’s performance was abysmal and unpresidential. Instead of addressing the actual gravity of the situation—a failed assassination attempt on a former president—he fumbled his words and failed to convey any semblance of leadership. This is the man currently entrusted with the highest office in the land, yet he can’t even deliver a coherent speech in a time of crisis.
Conservatives, and indeed all Americans, have every right to be outraged. The event should have been a sobering moment for the nation, yet here we are again, combating not only political instability but also media manipulation. It’s a wonder they haven’t figured out that the more they pander to Biden’s incompetence, the more they lose credibility. Then again, it seems the mainstream media is more than willing to sacrifice their integrity on the altar of political expediency.
