President Joe Biden has been making a habit of using a shorter staircase to board Air Force One in an effort to avoid any embarrassing falls or trips. And who can blame him? After his tumble at the commencement ceremony, he’s learned his lesson about the perils of climbing stairs on live television.

According to NBC News, Biden’s use of the shorter stairs has more than doubled since his fall. Prior to the incident, he would only use them 37% of the time, but now, he’s taking the safer route 84% of the time. Can you blame the guy for wanting to avoid any more viral videos?

Of course, the White House isn’t admitting that Biden is using the shorter stairs to minimize the chance of a fall. They claim weather conditions, airport logistics, and the media’s desire for photo ops are the determining factors. But let’s be honest, we all know what’s really going on here.
To make matters worse, it turns out Biden has been struggling with balance issues for quite some time. He’s been doing physical therapy and exercises to improve his balance since November 2021. His physician has diagnosed him with spinal arthritis and foot arthritis, which can certainly make navigating stairs a real challenge.
It’s concerning that Biden’s own doctor has recommended exercises for balance, yet he still seems to have trouble knowing which direction to go after speaking at a podium. It’s clear that his advance team needs to step up their game and start prioritizing the president’s safety.
Overall, it’s commendable that Biden is taking steps (no pun intended) to avoid future accidents. But it’s also a bit worrisome that his balance issues seem to be getting worse, especially given the demanding nature of the job he’s supposed to be doing. Hopefully, he can find some solid ground and avoid any more embarrassing mishaps.
