In an unusual turn of events, a man now faces criminal charges following a collision with a vehicle from President Joe Biden's motorcade. The incident, captured on camera, occurred on Sunday during Biden's visit to his 2024 campaign headquarters. Despite the 81-year-old president glancing at the crash, he was swiftly escorted away in another vehicle.
It's crucial to note that the vehicle involved in the collision was not the one transporting the president. The unnamed driver responsible for the accident has been charged with Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol and Inattentive Driving, as confirmed by Wilmington Police Department Communications Director David Karas. Authorities clarified that the collision was accidental.

The suspect, identified as James Cooper, allegedly attempted to continue driving after the crash but was apprehended by law enforcement. Fortunately, a Secret Service agent assured that the incident did not pose any protective concerns. Secret Service spokesman Steve Kopek stated, "There was no protective interest associated with this event, and the President’s motorcade departed without incident."
While this incident may have been a minor disruption for President Biden, it contributes to his already extensive list of visits to his campaign headquarters. By June 2022, Biden was on pace to surpass historical records for presidential vacation time. This trend suggests a preference for the comfort of his campaign headquarters over the demands of his office.
