According to Lake, it’s becoming increasingly clear to anyone paying attention that the Democrats are trying to replace President Joe Biden at the last second with a “ringer candidate.” Lake believes that California Governor Gavin Newsom is the frontrunner for this potential switch. She criticized Newsom for his handling of California’s issues and accused him of trying to expand his influence beyond his current position.

Lake pointed to Newsom’s recent trip to China as evidence of his bigger political ambitions. In her eyes, this visit was an attempt to establish connections with influential figures who will control the Democratic Party. She argued that the Democrats are aware that both Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are seen as disastrous by voters, and they fear the party will collapse if they remain on the ticket. While Lake made a strong case for Newsom as the replacement candidate, she acknowledged that some believe Michelle Obama could be the party’s savior.
