Since President Joe Biden took office, over 6.3 million migrants have illegally crossed into the US, resulting in an increase in fatal drugs and human trafficking. The number of daily illegal crossings stands at around 8,000, and this is projected to increase once Title 42 is lifted. Despite this, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas maintains that the border is “secure” and “safe.”

However, Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra has firmly stated that the southern border is not secure, and federal partners do not have control over several areas. Mayorkas appears to be living in a different reality where the border is secure because they are using their resources to the fullest extent. He has even claimed that the Biden Administration has attempted to end Title 42 several times and that now is the right time to do so.
In El Paso, Texas, hundreds of migrants camp out daily along the border, and border patrol agents encounter individuals from countries such as China, India, Turkey, and Afghanistan. Despite these circumstances, Mayorkas asserts that there is a plan in place and that there is no need to worry about the expiration of Title 42.
It is evident that the Biden Administration lacks the intention to safeguard our country’s borders. The increase in illegal crossings has brought in dangerous drugs, illicit activities, and individuals who do not intend to abide by our laws or assimilate into American culture. The American people deserve a president who prioritizes our national security and sovereignty above all else.
