The Del Rio Sector in Texas is becoming quite the hotspot for large groups of undocumented migrants, proving once again that the Biden administration’s border policies have more holes than a slice of Swiss cheese. This observation comes straight from the mouth of Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Robert Danley, who recently pointed out the significant uptick in migrant crossings in his neck of the woods. Apparently, crossing the border isn’t just a solo sport anymore; it’s now a coordinated team effort, with groups of over 100 marching over like they’re starting a new trend.
Recent reports indicate that out of over 500 migrants crossing the Texas border in these large groups, a staggering 122 of them were unaccompanied minors. One might wonder where these children’s parents are, but who needs to worry about that when the primary focus is on getting them through the border to find “sponsors” in the U.S.? The Border Patrol has only managed to send back about 38 percent of these crossers, which suggests that the immigration system is functioning about as well as a broken-down car on the side of the road.
Del Rio Sector has seen a rise in large groups of undocumented migrants illegally entering the U.S. We have taken steps to ensure consistent application of consequences, regardless of how many people enter illegally. Smugglers lie – don't cross illegally! pic.twitter.com/IzNqIheR7a

Breitbart Texas was on the case back in September, highlighting how the Texas Department of Public Safety was intercepting these large groups, like border security personnel playing Whac-A-Mole with migrants who think the Rio Grande is just a water park. In one instance, 124 migrants from several countries were apprehended shortly after they shuffled across the shallow parts of the river, throwing a wrench into the supposed “slowdown” that was expected in an election year. While the administration might be hard at work hiding the impact of its policies, Texas law enforcement appears to be seeing the reality as it is: the situation is worsening, not improving.
Additionally, there’s a new twist in the tale for these unaccompanied minors: instead of returning them from whence they came, the government is rolling out the welcome mat, courtesy of Health and Human Services. They’re taking custody of these kids, ready to place them with “sponsors” who will take care of them while they pursue claims of asylum. It begs a question: are these sponsors the child’s long-lost relatives, or are they just friendly neighbors who heard the migration news and decided to pitch in?
In the recently concluded Fiscal Year 24, over 237,000 migrants made their way into the Del Rio Sector illegally. Clearly, whatever plans the Biden administration thought they had to keep the borders secure have gone awry. Between unaccompanied minors and the staggering numbers of undocumented crossings, Texas is turning into the latest arena for immigration policy gone haywire. The Lone Star State certainly deserves better, and it seems the folks in charge are failing to meet even the most basic expectations. The border may be open, but the impact of these policies is closed to any rational examination.
