Yet again, the unelected bureaucrats in California have decided they know better than the people. The California Coastal Commission, packed with radical environmental ideologues, has once more stomped on American tradition—this time by blocking Long Beach’s Fourth of July fireworks. That’s right: the folks in charge think some theoretical harm to the coastline is more important than the joy, freedom, and community spirit this country celebrates every summer.
Only in California does protecting imaginary endangered insects take priority over honoring the birth of the nation. The Commission’s job, supposedly, is to protect the state’s coast—not to treat every patch of sand or blade of grass as if it’s more sacred than the basic rights of Americans. They dress up their decisions in a lot of scientific jargon, but everyone knows their true agenda. It’s all about control. It’s about telling regular families, especially the patriotic ones, to quiet down and sit in the back seat while the green elites call the shots.

Meanwhile, the politicians and coastal elites will still get to enjoy their fancy parties out of the public eye—just without the messy, “unapproved” fireworks. Any event that represents American values and brings real people together? Shut down. But you’ll see those same liberal bureaucrats making a big show of supporting massive, carbon-spewing celebrity galas or pushing for more concrete while shutting down working-class recreation.
These so-called “protectors” of the environment seem to ignore the facts whenever it suits their anti-American agenda. The Fourth of July is the most cherished national holiday, yet that doesn’t stop these activists from targeting it. For them, “saving the planet” is just a mask to hide their distaste for American tradition, independence, and anything resembling patriotism. If these career killjoys really cared about the environment, they’d go after the private jets zipping up and down the coast instead of torching small-town celebrations.
One has to wonder: When did joy itself become an environmental hazard in California? Maybe next time the Commission will ban cookouts, parades, and even American flags, just to satisfy their globalist, woke overlords and make sure nobody has too much fun in the Land of the Free.
