In the latest episode of “As the Capitol Turns,” a second sex tape has emerged from the hallowed halls of Congress. If there’s one thing to be learned from this scandal, it’s that there’s never a dull moment in Washington D.C.
It was just last week when we were introduced to the first steamy video, which allegedly featured two men engaging in some Capitol Hill hanky-panky. The incident resulted in an investigation by Capitol Police and the resignation or dismissal of a legislative aide. And now, we have yet another juicy tale to feast our eyes on.

This time, the scandal involves the other side of the aisle and the other chamber of Congress. Representative Dan Newhouse’s office has confirmed reports of “purported, unbecoming behavior” but claims that an investigation into the allegations had already been completed. According to Newhouse’s spokesperson, the investigation uncovered “no conclusive evidence” of any wrongdoing.
Of course, the individual involved in this scandal had plenty to say. He claims to have been informed of the investigation last year but was later told by Newhouse himself that it had found no evidence against him. The staffer left the congressman’s office a few months later, seemingly on good terms and unrelated to the accusation.
While the investigation into this particular incident appears to have been closed without any concrete result, reports are swirling that other explicit videos filmed in the Capitol Building do exist. Semafor, the outlet claiming to have viewed some of the material, has mentioned a few tantalizing details about the videos. The participants’ faces are conveniently obscured, but the Capitol House furniture and a “branded congressional mouse pad” provide some rather scandalous context.
As we wait for more developments in this unfolding saga, it’s worth pondering whether anyone involved in these escapades should face criminal charges.
