Lopez made it clear that the real culprit in this situation is the Biden administration for allowing asylum seekers to enter the country under false pretenses and then burdening them with court cases that stretch out for a decade. Lopez criticized his own mayor, Lori Lightfoot, for trying to shift the blame onto Governor Abbott, emphasizing that the true responsibility lies with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for failing to protect and secure the borders and establish an efficient immigration system. Instead of holding the administration and Secretary Mayorkas accountable, they are unjustly targeting the Governor, who is clearly frustrated and receiving pleas for help from Democratic city mayors.
