Why the shift in who we call the threat matters
This is more than a talking point. The White House’s counterterrorism strategy now lists violent left‑wing extremists, including anarchists, as a priority threat. Independent research groups also report recent increases in incidents coded as left‑wing violence. That doesn’t erase decades of right‑wing and racially motivated attacks, but it does change how law enforcement and policymakers should deploy resources. If the actors are changing, so must the response.
Call out the spin, not the concern
