On Tuesday, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) appeared in a Senate hearing, challenging FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate over his failure to provide answers on the allegations of bribery against President Joe Biden and his family. Senator Cruz demanded a clear response about how the FBI has handled these allegations.
The accusations were based on a whistleblower’s claim of an FBI FD-1023 document that alleged the Biden family participated in a $5 million bribery scheme during his vice-presidential tenure. Despite the seriousness of these allegations, Abbate remained hesitant to confirm or deny the existence of the document, a decision that Cruz called “a disservice to the American public.”
Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) stated that there are seventeen recordings related to this case, and fifteen of them involve conversations with Hunter Biden. Abbate refused to admit the existence of these recordings, prompting Cruz to state that the FBI is “stonewalling and covering up serious allegations of evidence of corruption from the President.”
Cruz explained that if President Biden was innocent, he could disprove the allegations. His silence increased public doubt. He criticized his Democratic cohorts, accusing them of putting partisan ambitions before the rule of law.

Cruz tried to get Abbate to hand over the FD 1023 document and the seventeen recordings to the Senate Judiciary Committee. However, Abbate was non-committal in his response. Cruz declared that his evasiveness indicated the FBI’s lack of accountability, which severely damaged the institution’s credibility.
If the allegations were proven true, it would represent a significant breach in public trust. Cruz emphasized that the American public should know the truth.
On Monday, Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) revealed that an executive of Burisma, the Ukrainian gas company linked to Hunter Biden, possessed seventeen audio recordings that implicate both President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden. The Burisma executive kept the recordings as an “insurance policy.”
Grassley said, “Based on the facts known to the Congress and the public, it’s clear that the Justice Department, the FBI haven’t nearly had the same laser focus on the Biden family. Well, what is U.S. Attorney Weiss doing with respect to these alleged Joe and Hunter Biden recordings that are apparently relevant to the high-stakes bribery scheme?”
The American people deserve transparency, and it’s lamentable that the FBI keeps stonewalling citizens with regards to Hunter Biden’s scandals. The Republicans have consistently shown their non-partisan interest in exposing the truth to the people.
