Comparisons between today’s Democrats and historical figures like Joseph Stalin have become all too common, particularly when it comes to the underlying belief that ideas are dangerous and must be controlled. Stalin, who seized power from Lenin on this day in 1922, famously noted that ideas are more potent than firearms. Clearly, he understood that if you control the ideas people have, you control the people themselves. Fast forward to the Democratic Party in 2025, which has taken a page out of Stalin’s playbook by thinking that ordinary Americans should be stripped of the right to express their own opinions, lest they stray from the carefully curated ideological narrative.
While Stalin executed his oppressive ideology with ruthless efficiency, today’s Democrats have opted for a subtler approach, yet the intention appears strikingly similar. They often categorize dissenting voices as enemies of the state or, in their case, enemies of progress. This mindset is perfectly captured by the current education system, which has devolved into a mechanism for instilling Marxist and woke ideologies in the minds of youth, rather than nurturing critical thinking or creativity. Education, in their view, isn’t just learning; it’s an all-out campaign to ensure that the left’s ideologies dominate the discourse.
The irony is not lost on those who observe the historical pursuit of literacy under communist regimes, where widespread education exists hand-in-hand with the persecution of dissenting intellectuals. It’s a paradox, indeed, and it offers clear insight into how those in power exploit education to shove their narratives down the throats of the nation’s young people. This is evident in classrooms across America, where the left’s ideological indoctrination has infringed upon the basic tenets of scholarship — leaving many students unable to express or even form their own opinions. It seems that Democrats are starting to recognize an alarming trend: ordinary citizens are regaining the ability to think for themselves. To say they are panicking would be an understatement.

Additionally, the left’s reliance on an overwhelmingly biased media echoes the tactics employed by totalitarian regimes like that of Stalin. As trust in traditional media channels continues to dwindle, Democrats appear increasingly desperate, resorting to circuses of distraction to maintain their control. From bizarre anti-business initiatives to convoluted legislative stunts, they seem intent on keeping attention away from the fact that many Americans are waking up to their ideological games. Circumventing public opposition to their pet projects, they also attempt to label dissenters as extremists, a tactic reminiscent of the Soviet tactic of scapegoating.
This fear of losing power has manifested in ridiculous displays of political theater. For instance, Georgia Democrats took a walkout in a bid to secure taxpayer funding for questionable medical procedures. Such acts only highlight their disconnection from mainstream American values. Meanwhile, in a truly alarming echo of past situations, Colorado Democrats have likened parents concerned about gender transition surgeries for children to the KKK. Such irrational comparisons are indicative of a desperate party clinging to power through fear and misinformation.
One can only hope for a future where the Democratic Party finds itself on the same historical scrap heap as Stalin’s totalitarian regime. The relentless pursuit of control over opinions and educational content without regard for individual liberties is a path that leads to downfall. The American public is awakening, and if Democrats continue down this road, they might just find themselves left behind, a relic of ideologies better suited for a misguided past.
