The left’s melodrama reaches a new low as the party that constantly plays the hero in “saving democracy” now seems intent on throttling it by summarily ousting their own sitting president to anoint Kamala Harris as the next contender for the White House. This is a time-honored tactic for the Democrats, who have proven time and again that they are more interested in power than principle. The irony is palpable: President Biden, whose mental acuity has long been a topic of mockery and concern, is being shoved aside like last week’s leftovers, just as the very leaders who orchestrated his rise in 2020 scramble to fill the void.
Biden’s administration has been characterized by attempts to neutralize Donald Trump through impeachment and an endless parade of investigations that were clearly designed to undercut the 45th president. It seems that the Democrats’ commitment to democracy only exists as long as it benefits their agenda. The moment they feel threatened, their inner Machiavelli shines through, and democracy is the first casualty. The notion that they are a “pro-democracy” party rings hollow as they plot to side-step the will of voters in their own primaries.

Regardless of the criticisms surrounding Biden’s competence, the Democrats felt confident enough to keep him propped up like a cast member from a bad horror film. Now, with the pressure mounting and whispers of health issues swirling—coincidentally coinciding with a COVID diagnosis—the Democrats are making their move to install Harris as their preferred candidate. This isn’t just a mere transfer of power; it’s an explicitly contrived “soft coup.” The DNC is clearly operating under the belief that the party’s hierarchy knows better than the voters themselves.
The disgraceful manipulation doesn’t stop at Biden. History tells us that this is merely a continuation of a family tradition within the Democratic Party. In 2016, Bernie Sanders was vocal about the manipulation he faced, asserting that the primary process was rigged in favor of Hillary Clinton. The DNC’s alleged behind-the-scenes maneuvering prior to the 2020 election, which saw other candidates like Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar bow out in favor of Biden at the behest of former President Obama, is nothing new. The party doesn’t rely on popular sentiment but rather finds ways to orchestrate outcomes that they determine are best suited for their interests.
As the party gears up to hold yet another meeting to select their new ‘democratic’ nominee, one can only assume that the DNC is rallying the troops to ensure that Harris not only shines but that the optics are immaculate. The DNC’s shameless self-reinforcement fosters an environment where delegates are expected to fall in line, reminding everyone that the grassroots support seen during the primary season is merely a facade. The voters may express their preferences, but ultimately, those preferences will be drowned out by the party elite’s decision-making.
The irony of the Democrats’ claim to protect democracy has become a sad joke. The blatant disregard for voter intentions signals that members of the party may finally come to terms with the uncomfortable truth: their votes have been practically worthless for years. The Democrat Party’s deep-seated contempt for their own base is on full display, and it becomes increasingly clear that they are more interested in preserving their control than genuinely representing the voices of the people. If the Democrats have their way, expect to see yet another top-down decision that demonstrates just how much they value the democratic process—spoiler alert: it’s not much at all.
