The Democrats continue their attack on the Second Amendment and law-abiding gun owners. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) has come under fire for its new pistol brace rule, which will require gun owners to register pistols with braces as “short barrel rifles” by redefining a weapon “designed or redesigned, made or remade, and intended to be fired from the shoulder” as a “rifle,” with a May 31 deadline.

Following a hearing on ATF oversight, Republican Texas Rep. Troy Nehls called out the ATF director, Steve Dettelbach, for his agency’s assault on the Second Amendment. Nehls raised concerns about Dettelbach’s enforcement mechanism for fining or possibly sentencing law-abiding Americans who do not comply or aren’t even aware of the new rule.
Dettelbach refused to answer Nehls’ question about whether the ATF would prosecute those who inadvertently violate the new rule. Instead, Dettelbach dodged the question and reiterated that the ATF’s mission is to “target our resources towards violent people.”
Dettelbach is blatantly avoiding the issue here. Americans shouldn’t have to face jail time for accidentally violating the ATF’s pistol brace rules. These braces were created to assist wounded military personnel and disabled individuals. Violating this rule would mean going after an already vulnerable group of Americans.
The Democrats have made it clear that they will use every opportunity to infringe upon the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans. This new rule is nothing but an excuse to go after gun owners and to make life harder for disabled and wounded Americans who have the right to defend themselves.
It’s time to stand up to these tyrants and demand that they stop attacking the Second Amendment. Law-abiding gun owners should not be punished for unintentionally violating the ATF’s pistol brace rules. It’s time to put an end to their constant attacks on our constitutional rights.
