Accusations are flying at the Department of Justice (DOJ), as three Republican congressmen claim that the agency is obstructing an investigation led by Inspector General Michael Horowitz. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith, and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan have written a letter to Horowitz inquiring about DOJ’s response to the investigation into whistleblower allegations regarding Hunter Biden and his alleged free pass from criminal charges.
The congressmen allege that DOJ intentionally slowed down the investigation into Hunter Biden and blocked agents from pursuing felonious tax evasion and other crimes, including a felony gun charge. They also raise concerns about unlawful whistleblower retaliation against IRS employees who testified before Congress.
With a skeptical tone, the Republican chairmen express their doubts about DOJ’s commitment to fair justice and question whether Horowitz’s office is being limited in its investigation. They request documents and information to clarify any limitations imposed by law or regulation and seek an explanation for the DOJ’s actions.
Adding some conservative flavor to the news, it is pointed out that Hunter Biden’s legal team is now going after the whistleblowers, attempting to bring charges against them for testifying under oath. The alleged mishandling of the criminal investigation into Hunter Biden and, by extension, President Joe Biden, is suggested to be a reflection of the current administration’s approach to justice.
Opinion: It’s no surprise that the GOP members have raised concerns about the DOJ’s handling of the investigation into Hunter Biden. Given the Democratic bias exhibited by the Biden administration and their relentless protection of the President’s son, it’s clear that a thorough and unbiased investigation is unlikely. It’s concerning to see the potential interference and retaliation against those who dared to expose the truth. The American people deserve transparency and justice, not a cover-up and political maneuvering. It’s time for the DOJ to answer for its actions and restore faith in our judicial system.
