The sermon, which was less about prayer and more about parroting progressive dogma, focused on LGBTQ issues and illegal immigration. This kind of politicized preaching is becoming a hallmark of the left, where houses of worship turn into soapboxes for their woke agenda.
Budde’s sermon was, predictably, a masterclass in ignoring the realities facing American citizens. She emotively highlighted undocumented laborers, portraying them as paragons of virtue who simply work hard and contribute to society. While it’s commendable to recognize the efforts of all who work, glossing over the legality of their status is not just naive, it’s dangerous. The bishops and other leftists conveniently overlook the fundamental principle that without secure borders, the integrity of any nation is compromised. But apparently, logic takes a backseat to political correctness when it comes to the woke crowd.
Among those unimpressed by Budde’s misguided sermon was Senator Bernie Moreno of Ohio, a legal immigrant who made headlines with a swift condemnation of the Bishop’s lecture. He expressed his frustration on social media, noting how insulting it is for someone advocating for illegal immigration and flouting the rule of law to lecture those who respect it. Moreno’s uproar highlights a significant divide: while the left romanticizes illegal immigration as a moral issue, many legal immigrants – like Moreno – understand the importance of a lawful entry into the country. For them, illegally crossing borders undermines their own sacrifices.

The repercussions of Budde’s comments will likely reverberate through democratic circles, further tarnishing their public appeal.
