It was initially believed that the actions were based on the claims made by the doctors, but it has been revealed that they were actually disciplined for criticizing the government's approach to the situation.

24. In my review of internal files, I found countless instances of tweets labeled as “misleading” or taken down entirely, sometimes triggering account suspensions, simply because they veered from CDC guidance or differed from establishment views.

Many of the country's top doctors, who were graduates from some of the most prominent medical schools, were also prevented from participating in public discussions about the pandemic.
