Florida Cracks Down on Trafficking, Raises Stripper Age

In a bold move to combat human trafficking and protect the sanctity of young women, the Florida Senate took a stand by passing an amendment to the anti-human trafficking bill. The amendment raises the minimum age to become a stripper from 18 to 21, a decision that is sure to ruffle some feathers in the liberal camp.

State Senator Clay Yarborough, a fierce advocate for the protection of vulnerable individuals, spearheaded the amendment. He aptly pointed out that human trafficking is a vile form of modern-day slavery that preys on the innocence of children, teenagers, and even adults. It’s commendable to see a Republican leader taking proactive steps to safeguard the community and shield our children from the horrors of trafficking and sexual exploitation.

Despite the noble intentions behind the amendment, a few Democrats chose to swim against the tide and voted against the bill. Their shortsightedness in opposing this crucial measure is truly baffling. Senate Minority Leader Lauren Book’s concern about taking away job opportunities from adult women in the stripping profession is not only misplaced but also dangerous. It’s time the Democrats prioritize the safety and well-being of individuals over their own political agendas.

As the bill now moves to the Florida House of Representatives, it’s crucial for lawmakers to put aside their differences and rally behind this vital piece of legislation. Governor Ron DeSantis must also recognize the urgency of this issue and swiftly sign the bill into law once it reaches his desk. The protection of our citizens, especially the most vulnerable among us, should always take precedence over political posturing.
