GOP Rep Brilliantly Silences Fox News Host Over McCarthy Ouster!

In a fiery exchange on Wednesday, Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade confronted Rep. Tim Burchett about his vote to remove former Speaker Kevin McCarthy from his position. Kilmeade, trying to use McCarthy’s 96% Congressional Approval rating as a weapon, asked Burchett if he felt good about his vote. But Burchett quickly fired back, saying that he works for the people in the second district of Tennessee, not for the people in Congress.

Burchett then went on to vent his frustrations about the excessive spending and lack of leadership in Congress. He criticized the fact that the government takes in $5 trillion in revenue but spends $7 trillion, and that leadership continually passes budget resolutions that push important deadlines up against holidays. Burchett argued that the prolonged vacation time that Congress takes is a failure of leadership.

Kilmeade tried to downplay Burchett’s concerns, highlighting the historic nature of the vote and asking if Burchett had ever called McCarthy during the summer break to discuss getting back to work. But Burchett stood firm and expressed his discontent with the nation’s $36 trillion debt. He suggested that McCarthy could be partly responsible for the debt due to the rate of its growth.

Burchett also pointed out the flaws in the defense bill, which he claimed had $30 billion in new funding for a Pentagon that has never passed an audit. Despite these issues, Kilmeade played a clip of McCarthy refuting Burchett’s account of a phone call they had, which led Burchett to conclude that leadership has the responsibility to address these concerns.

Overall, Burchett made it clear that he represents the people of Tennessee, not the people in Congress. He believes that leadership is failing to take responsibility for the issues facing the country, and he holds the Speaker’s office accountable.
