In a fiery showdown on Capitol Hill, Senator Lindsey Graham did not hold back while grilling Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, about the dangers big tech poses to children. Graham didn’t mince words when he accused Zuckerberg of having “blood on [his] hands” due to the harmful effects of the products created by Meta. The Senator didn’t stop there, insisting that Zuckerberg’s platform is responsible for the deaths of innocent people.

During the hearing, Zuckerberg tried to defend his platforms, Meta [Facebook] and Instagram, by claiming they do not contribute to mental health problems in children or teenagers. But, let’s be real, who is going to believe that? Social media’s constant bombardment of unrealistic body standards, cyberbullying, and endless scrolling has definitely got to be damaging to the babies of our nation.
The Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill are finally seeing eye to eye when it comes to putting big tech companies under the microscope. In a joint op-ed, Senator Marsha Blackburn and Senator Richard Blumenthal demanded new and heavily deserved regulations for these tech companies. It’s about time someone said something about these tech giants running wild with no consequences!
And let’s not forget about the empty promises and excuses coming from these companies. They love to talk a big game and brag about their “new” safety features, conveniently announced right before facing Congress. But in reality, these “new” features are just recycled from previous years. Wow, real original, guys!
The bottom line is that Big Tech needs to be reined in and Congress needs to step up to the plate. It’s clear that these tech giants can’t be trusted to regulate themselves. It’s time to hold them accountable and protect our children from the harmful effects of their products. About time someone’s looking out for the next generation!
