Harris Plans to Link Trump’s 2024 VP Pick to His Policies and Past

Vice President Kamala Harris has shared her plan to confront whoever former President Donald Trump chooses as his running mate for the 2024 election. While speaking with Politico, Harris refused to give her opinion on specific candidates from Trump’s short list, emphasizing that the actual pick is unimportant. She intends to attack her opponent by associating them closely with Trump, not drawing any distinction between the two.

Harris stated that the crucial factor for Trump is finding an enabler, rather than a governing partner like Mike Pence. She argues that the candidates on the list have all shown support for Trump’s abortion ban and have opposed the right to contraception, indicating their extreme positions. The vice president and the Democrats are preparing to portray Trump and his running mate as interchangeable, countering any potential moderating influence on Trump’s public image.

Harris addressed one candidate directly, Rep. Byron Donalds of Florida, criticizing his remarks about black families during the Jim Crow era. She expressed her determination to engage in a debate with her opponent as soon as possible.

The recent vice presidential shortlist includes Sens. Tim Scott (R-SC), J.D. Vance (R-OH), and Marco Rubio (R-FL), Reps. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and Byron Donalds (R-FL), Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND), and former surgeon Ben Carson.
