In a bold move to combat the growing crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border, GOP Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley has introduced the “State Border Defense Act.” This legislation aims to empower states along the border – California, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona – to take matters into their own hands by building their own barriers and cracking down on illegal immigration.

Hawley, in an interview with Fox News, made it clear that he believes it is the responsibility of the states to take action since the federal government, under Joe Biden’s leadership, has failed to enforce immigration laws effectively. He laid blame on Biden’s “dangerous open-border policies” for exacerbating the situation and leaving states like Missouri to deal with the consequences.

It’s refreshing to see a senator who is willing to challenge the status quo and prioritize the safety and security of American citizens. Hawley’s legislation is a clear message to the Biden administration that the American people expect action, not just empty promises.
The introduction of this bill comes at a time when Texas is facing legal challenges for its installation of buoys in the Rio Grande to deter illegal immigrants. Thankfully, a federal appeals court ruled in favor of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, allowing the buoy border wall to remain in place, at least for now.
That decision must have been a hard pill to swallow for the liberals who have been pushing for open borders and turning a blind eye to the rampant illegal immigration crisis. But the people of Texas have spoken, with a majority showing their support for the border buoys. It’s about time someone listened to the concerns of everyday Americans instead of pandering to the radical left.
Hawley’s State Border Defense Act is a much-needed solution to the problems caused by Biden’s lax immigration policies. If the federal government refuses to secure our borders, then it’s only fair that states have the authority to protect their own territories. It’s a matter of defending our sovereignty and putting the safety of American citizens first.
The Democrats can cry foul all they want, but they only have themselves to blame for the humanitarian crisis unfolding before our eyes. Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and other Democratic lawmakers have called on the Biden administration to do more, but their pleas fall on deaf ears. It’s clear that Biden and his colleagues are more interested in virtue signaling than actually addressing the influx of illegal immigrants at the border.
Hawley’s legislation is a step in the right direction. It’s time for the American people to reclaim control over our borders and ensure the safety and prosperity of our nation. The State Border Defense Act is a much-needed tool in this fight against illegal immigration, and it’s up to conservatives like Hawley to lead the way. The fate of our country depends on it.
