WASHINGTON D.C. – As if Capitol Hill didn’t have enough drama already, an additional 40+ House Republicans have thrown a monkey wrench in the fine-tuned gears of government spending legislation. These GOP hard-liners are putting their foot down, refusing to support any spending bill that doesn’t include the party’s beloved border security bill, H.R. 2.
The rebel rousers, led by Reps. Bob Good of Virginia and Chip Roy of Texas, made their intentions clear in a strongly worded letter to their fellow lawmakers. The rebels argue that the Biden administration’s immigration policies are recklessly endangering American safety and sovereignty, and they’re not about to stand idly by and watch it happen.

The hard-liners specifically oppose funding for the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense, crying foul on what they see as the radical left’s “open borders policies” and the “radical politicization” of the Defense Department. They’re not mincing words, calling out the Biden administration’s border policies as disastrous and vowing to use their “power of the purse” to stop them in their tracks.
Furthermore, these scrappy Republicans are waving their fists at the looming government shutdown, threatening to withhold their support for any legislation until their demands are met. They’re tired of being bulldozed by the Democrat-led Senate and are determined to make their mark by pushing for stricter border policies.
Just to add fuel to the already roaring fire, these diehard conservatives are not fans of the pending appropriations bill, having already voted against the first six bills last month. Let’s just say, they’re not looking to play nice and are turning up the heat on their Democrat counterparts.
While it’s still uncertain what the final outcome will be, one thing’s for sure – buckle up, folks.
