House Subcommittee Targets DHS Failures Under Biden Administration Leadership

The House Subcommittee on Oversight, Investigations, and Accountability is gearing up to address what can only be described as the cringe-worthy saga of waste, fraud, and abuse at the Department of Homeland Security, all thanks to the lackluster leadership of the Biden administration. On March 11, the subcommittee’s hearing promises to delve into the belly of the beast, aptly titled “Eliminating Waste, Fraud, and Abuse at the Department of Homeland Security: Addressing the Biden-Harris Administration’s Failures.” Spoiler alert: there are plenty of failures to sift through.

At the center of this circus is Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who seems to have a talent for turning the DHS into a house of horrors. Under his watch, illegal immigration skyrocketed to unprecedented levels, making a mockery of border security. And just when one thought things couldn’t get more chaotic, there were assassination attempts against a former president as well. Mayorkas and the DHS don’t just juggle tasks; they turn it into a grand spectacle of incompetence.

The Secret Service, which operates under the umbrella of DHS, faced heavy scrutiny for its failures in response to a shooting incident in Butler, PA. This tragic event left Trump and two supporters injured and one dead, raising serious questions about the effectiveness and preparedness of an agency that should be all about protection. Instead, it appears DHS has been busy honing its skills in failure management, possibly offering seminars on how to drop the ball spectacularly.

In 2024, the House of Representatives attempted to impeach Mayorkas for “willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law.” One might think that such serious allegations would warrant a fair hearing in the Senate. But no, then-Senate Leader Chuck Schumer took the “try and dismiss” route, shutting down any chance for accountability without even allowing a vote. Apparently, the Democrats have their own version of justice: swift and only for those who fit into their narrative.

This hearing may just be the tip of the iceberg. With a lineup of accusations that reads like a laundry list of failures, it’s high time for accountability. Because while the Biden administration gleefully issues press releases about their successes, the reality on the ground tells a much different story. In an era where the southern border seems more like a revolving door for illegal immigrants, and security measures are under fire for their shortcomings, it seems the DHS could take a lesson in competence—if only someone was willing to teach it.
