President Joe Biden is gearing up for his 2024 re-election bid, but he’s facing a major obstacle in the form of his son Hunter. This guy just can’t seem to stay out of trouble! The Associated Press reports that Hunter’s legal woes are causing quite the headache for the president’s team.
First off, we have Hunter’s federal indictments. NBC News reveals that Hunter’s attorneys plan to argue his innocence to the three federal felony gun charges he’s facing in Delaware. Apparently, Hunter bought a handgun back in 2018 while addicted to crack cocaine and lied about his drug use. Classic Hunter move, am I right?
But it doesn’t stop there. The Washington Post reports that Hunter might also be facing a second criminal indictment for tax crimes related to his shady foreign business dealings. It seems like this guy just can’t catch a break. Although, when you’re dealing with tax crimes, maybe that’s a good thing.
Not only is Hunter facing criminal charges, but he’s also filing lawsuits left and right. ABC News shares that he’s suing a former Trump aide who shared information from Hunter’s abandoned laptop. I mean, if you leave your laptop lying around, isn’t it fair game? But apparently not in Hunter’s world.
Hunter’s lawyers are also taking on the IRS. The Post reveals that they are claiming his privacy rights were violated when IRS whistleblowers shared his financial information with Congress. I guess Hunter wants to keep his financial misadventures a secret. Can’t blame him, those foreign business deals don’t sound too legit.
Now, all of this mess is causing trouble for President Biden himself. The Hill reports that House Republicans are launching an impeachment inquiry against the president based on allegations of his involvement in Hunter’s questionable dealings. It’s a real family affair, isn’t it?

But here’s the kicker: a majority of Americans already believe that President Biden was involved in Hunter’s shady activities, according to CNN. And a hefty chunk think he acted illegally. Ouch. Those are some tough numbers for the president.
All this drama and suspicion surrounding Hunter isn’t a good look for President Biden’s re-election campaign. Sure, there are some die-hard Biden supporters who think he’s as pure as the driven snow. But realistically, the cloud of dirt hanging over his son isn’t doing him any favors.
It’s safe to say that Joe Biden’s re-election bid is off to a rocky start. With Hunter’s legal troubles and the looming impeachment inquiry, it’s hard to imagine a successful second term for the president. Maybe he should consider retiring to his basement instead. It’s a lot less stressful down there, I hear.
