The House Oversight Committee Chairman, James Comer, has launched an investigation following reports of the State Department’s expenditure of hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to suppress conservative news outlets. Comer wrote a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressing his apprehension regarding the government’s attempts to censor lawful speech and denounce legitimate criticism as mis-, dis-, or mal- information. He emphasized that the allocation of taxpayer funds to third parties with the goal of censoring lawful speech or infringing upon the press’s freedom should not be permitted.

NEW, Disinformation Inc: The State Department-backed National Endowment for Democracy granted over $315K in 2021 to the Global Disinformation Index, which is secretly blacklisting conservative news. https://t.co/14AvG8FsPt

The investigation into the State Department’s spending to censor conservative news outlets is a significant move toward addressing the long-standing issue of conservative voices being suppressed by the liberal media. The use of taxpayer funds to restrict the right to free speech is intolerable and unconstitutional. This practice must be halted immediately to prevent further infringement upon our constitutional rights.

To comprehend the Department’s utilization of federal funds for a censorship initiative, the investigation has requested documents and a staff-level briefing from Secretary Blinken. This involves records and correspondences related to grants or other funding managed by the Department or organizations funded by the Department that were employed to suppress information deemed as mis-, dis-, or mal- information by individuals or news organizations in the United States from January 20, 2021, to the current date.
It is time for conservatives to stand up and fight for their right to free speech. We must not let the liberal media and government dictate what we can and cannot say. We must take action and demand that our voices be heard. The House Oversight Committee’s investigation is a step in the right approach and we must continue to fight for our rights and ensure that our voices are not silenced.
