Kamala Harris Backs Out of Debate with Trump as Campaign Ducks Scrutiny

Kamala Harris has officially decided to forgo the grand stage of her first debate with Donald Trump, proving once again that when push comes to shove, the only thing she’s willing to debate is her own commitment. Donald Trump had previously announced plans for three debates with the Vice President, including significant face-offs on Fox News, ABC, and NBC. But it seems Kamala’s team, possibly fueled by political apprehension and a healthy dose of media avoidance, preferred to backpedal rather than face the brash, unfiltered style of Trump.

Initially, the Harris-Walz campaign exhibited a touch of bravado, hinting they might agree to just two debates – a rather nonsensical strategy for anyone hoping to establish credibility as serious contenders on the national stage. They tossed a bone by proposing a format that counted a vice-presidential debate, but given the current political climate, it seems more like fluff than substance. To add to the spectacle, they appeared fixated on whether Trump would even appear for the stacked deck of discussions they had in mind.

The irony here is palpable. Just a few election cycles ago, Harris and her cohorts chirped about the imminent threat of a non-existent Trump meltdown during debates against Biden. Yet here she is, running scared from an actual debate where the real stakes are on display. Instead of stepping boldly into the ring, she opted for the safety of a two-debate arrangement, positioning herself as a candidate without the real guts to go head-to-head against Trump.

The antics don’t stop there. Governor Walz has claimed Vance is dodging debates, but when faced with the chance to engage, he’s been quicker to retreat than a cat in a bath. Regardless, neither Harris nor Walz have shown their faces in any media interviews since rising to the top of their party ticket, conveniently citing a packed schedule. It seems their commitment to the campaign trail is only skin deep.

Moreover, the debate networks shape up to favor Democrats, suggesting a strategy aimed at minimizing scrutiny rather than showcasing real convictions. By skirting the tough questions on conservative-friendly platforms like Fox News, Harris likely recognizes she won’t survive the brutal questioning that could quickly decimate her half-baked policies. Trump has already blurred the lines between ‘friendly’ and ‘enemy’ territory; Harris, on the other hand, remains firmly tethered to her comfort zone.

As the countdown to the debates continues, the Democratic playbook shows that their attempts at bravado are nothing more than a smokescreen for insecurities. The Harris campaign attempting to mimic Biden’s bold façade is laughable when it’s painfully clear that they’re as nervous about confrontation as a rabbit in a lion’s den. At this rate, it seems the real debates will be over who can dodge the stage the fastest.
