Vice President Kamala Harris has recently come under fire for a photo she posted on her Twitter page in February 2023. The photo, which was taken in July 2021, showed Harris with a young girl wearing a mask. Harris captioned the photo with a message about empowerment, “My message to Black women and girls everywhere: Never ask for permission to lead.”

The post has sparked criticism from many, as it appears to contradict President Biden’s recent statement that “COVID no longer controls our lives.” This has led to accusations of hypocrisy from the Democratic party, as other prominent Democrats such as Stacey Abrams have come under similar fire in the past for photos of masked children.
