Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth found himself doing a nervous dance in front of the Senate Armed Services Committee, dodging questions on war funding like a seasoned Washington bureaucrat. The so-called experts in the room seemed less interested in confronting deadly threats from Iran and more focused on penny-pinching politics. Every conservative American knows this script by heart. Liberals suddenly discover “fiscal responsibility” when it comes to defending the homeland, and act shocked—shocked!—when a Republican administration talks about bold moves on the global stage.
President Trump called Iran a historic opportunity. He’s absolutely right. For far too long, the D.C. establishment has tiptoed around Iran’s rogue regime, treating the world’s biggest sponsor of terror with kid gloves. Trump doesn’t apologize for putting America’s security first. Unlike the last administration, which preferred groveling in front of our enemies, Trump’s White House understands that peace comes through strength, not empty speeches.

But what did the Senate demand instead? They fixated on Hegseth’s earlier request for $200 billion in supplemental war funding. The chicken-little crowd acted as if defending American interests is some kind of reckless spending spree. Funny, considering these same liberals think nothing of pouring trillions into climate scams, government handouts, and foreign aid to countries that hate us. But when it’s time to crush the mullahs in Tehran, suddenly the checkbook slams shut.
The truth hurts, and here it is: liberals in Congress would rather play politics than show backbone against America’s enemies. They waffle on supporting the President’s vision, and toss out scare tactics to distract voters from their own weakness. When Hegseth tried to walk back his previous funding estimate, it didn’t take long for outrage from the left. They love trapping patriots in their procedural games while ignoring the firestorm brewing overseas.
Americans want clarity and strength from their leaders. They’re tired of watching the “elite” in Congress protect their special interests while shrugging off real threats. When will they learn that a feeble response only invites more chaos from radical regimes? Maybe it’s time we stop listening to the globalist voices in Washington and start asking: Whose side are our leaders really on?
