Once again, the leftist media is up in arms over a successful woman making a lucrative deal. Caitlin Clark, the star of women’s basketball, has secured an impressive eight-year contract with Nike worth up to $28 million. This kind of accomplishment should be celebrated, but instead, USA Today sports columnist Mike Freeman is berating the deal as “ugly.”
It’s a shame to see Freeman focusing on race instead of recognizing Clark’s talent and marketability. The fact that Clark, a white player, is receiving a signature shoe deal should not be cause for controversy. In the past, black players like Sheryl Swoopes have had similar opportunities. This should be a moment of pride for women’s sports, not a cause for division.
