Miami Mayor Francis Suarez made a bold move on Friday by endorsing former President Donald Trump for the upcoming presidential race. This may come as a surprise, as Suarez had initially thrown his hat in the ring to run against Trump in 2024. However, after dropping out of the race six months ago, Suarez has now thrown his support behind Trump, citing his strong stance on border security and his ability to lead the country forward.

Suarez emphasized the importance of a president who can keep the country safe, secure the border, and address inflation. He expressed his eagerness to assist Trump and the Republican Party in winning over Hispanic, young voters, and urban residents. Trump is also in the process of selecting a running mate, and while Suarez was not mentioned as a contender, Trump hinted at Texas Governor Greg Abbott being on the shortlist.
This move by Suarez has left only a few former presidential candidates who have yet to endorse either Trump or his opponent. Notably, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and former Vice President Mike Pence are among those who have not declared their support. On the other hand, several ex-candidates, including Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), have thrown their weight behind Trump, while former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson has endorsed former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.
It will be interesting to see how Suarez’s endorsement plays out in the political landscape, especially as the race for the next president heats up. Stay tuned for more updates as the election draws nearer!
