MSNBC’s Joy Reid Compares Biden’s COVID Recovery to Trump’s Assassination Attempt

MSNBC’s resident liberal firecracker, Joy Reid, has somehow managed to equate President Biden’s COVID diagnosis with former President Donald Trump narrowly surviving an assassination attempt. Of all the mental gymnastics on display, this one wins a gold medal. During MSNBC’s obsessive coverage of the third night of the Republican National Convention, Reid made the outlandish suggestion that if Biden recovers from the virus, it should be viewed as “exactly the same” as Trump dodging a bullet—literally.

Reid’s case for this equivalency was as wobbly as a Jenga tower in the hands of a two-year-old. She pointed out that Trump, an elderly man, was able to survive an active shooter situation and get right back to business, a feat that the media naturally portrayed as a sign of strength. But wait—Reid hinted that there just might be something fishy about the whole incident, implying that it could have been staged. Apparently, in Reid’s world, dodging bullets isn’t impressive enough to stand on its own.

In the bizarro-Reid universe, Biden shaking off COVID at the ripe old age of 81 should be seen as just as mighty as Trump surviving an assassination attempt. If Biden manages to bounce back and go on to do rallies (something he’s been avoiding like the plague, pun intended), Reid believes it would make him just as strong. Never mind the fact that COVID has had a survival rate of over 99% for most folks, including the elderly. According to Reid, both feats are not the same incident but somehow should be celebrated on parallel levels.

Just to drive the point home, MSNBC even dragged former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki into the circus. Psaki, always ready to echo Reid’s progressive musings, wholeheartedly agreed with the ludicrous parallel. In Reid’s and Psaki’s world, surviving a virus with a high recovery rate at any age is on par with dodging a literal bullet. That’s the kind of math only a diehard leftist could come up with.

One can only imagine the cognitive dissonance required to genuinely believe that Biden beating a virus, which millions have done, holds the same weight as Trump surviving an assassination attempt. But then again, this is MSNBC, where reality often bends to fit the narrative. So, next time you hear Reid talk about courage and resilience, take it with a grain of salt—or perhaps an entire salt mine.
