MTG Demands Audit For Ukraine Aid NOW

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has been vocal about her support for an audit of the aid sent to Ukraine following the Russian invasion a year ago. During her appearance on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Thursday evening, Greene reiterated her demand for a comprehensive audit of the aid sent to Ukraine and emphasized that not all Republicans support President Biden’s provision of continuous aid to the Ukrainians. Greene is reintroducing a bill that would mandate a thorough audit of the tens of billions of dollars sent to Ukraine and she is optimistic that her Republican colleagues will endorse it this time around.

Following Rep. MTG’s call for an audit and appearance on Tucker, the Biden White House made an announcement about additional aid for Ukraine in a statement released by the White House Briefing Room the next day. The Department of Defense (DoD) disclosed that they would be providing an additional security assistance package for Ukraine through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). This package would include several new Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) equipment, electronic warfare detection equipment, ammunition for 155mm artillery systems and High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), mine clearing equipment, and secure communications support equipment. Furthermore, the United States has committed more than $32 billion in game-changing security assistance to Ukraine over the past year.

In addition, the Biden White House made public its plan to provide almost $10 billion in economic aid to assist Ukraine in meeting its citizens’ crucial requirements, such as healthcare, education, and emergency services. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin expressed surprise at the substantial amount of military assistance already sent, stating that “The United States has garnered international support to aid Ukraine and hold Russia accountable. Under President Biden’s leadership, the US has pledged over $32 billion in revolutionary security aid to Ukraine in the past year.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is determined to ensure that all of this aid is being used correctly and is not being misused or abused. She believes that an audit is necessary in order to ensure that the American people are aware of where their money is going. She is confident that this time, her Republican colleagues will support her resolution of inquiry and that an audit will be conducted. It is clear that Greene is passionate about this issue and will continue to fight for an audit until it is done.
