In a not-so-surprising turn of events, former President Donald Trump is showing he’s still the big cheese in the GOP, despite not even being on the ballot. Nikki Haley, one of the last anti-Trump holdouts, had a rough night in Nevada, failing to win over voters who instead opted for a “none of these candidates” option by a wide margin.
Haley, who has been adamant about giving Trump a run for his money, couldn’t even outshine the “none” option on the Nevada ballot, proving that Trump’s influence still reigns supreme. Her campaign, sitting on a hefty $14 million war chest, didn’t even bother to address the disappointing results in Nevada, claiming the game was “rigged for Trump” and focusing their energy on South Carolina instead.

Trump wasted no time rubbing salt in Haley’s wounds, taking to his beloved Truth Social to gloat about her defeat in Nevada. And it seems like Haley’s struggle isn’t going unnoticed by Trump’s allies in Nevada, with Republican Party bigwigs and voters alike voicing their lack of confidence in her campaign.
Even Vietnam veteran Doug Durbin, who made a point to vote for “none of these candidates” over Haley, emphasized his unwavering support for President Trump, highlighting the uphill battle Haley faces in gaining ground against the former president.
As the political circus moves on to South Carolina, it’s becoming increasingly clear that Haley has her work cut out for her. Polls already show Trump with a commanding lead over her among likely Republican voters, solidifying his status as the party’s top dog. Looks like Haley will need more than just an anti-Trump stance to take on the GOP heavyweight.
